Teens from across the diocese will take an in-depth look at Saint Pope John Paul II’s teachings to examine God’s original plan for humanity, and the freedom that comes with knowing and understanding his love. Join us for this three-day retreat for and with teens and share in fellowship, small groups, interactive activities and sacraments. The cost is $75. Adult chaperone for up to four teens, and an additional chaperone for each 9 teens. See the diocesan website for registration info.

As Catholics, we find our churches, houses and our world entranced by a sense that the objects, events, and persons of daily life are revelations of God’s grace. Artists have long been using natural and ordinary objects as signs and symbols to communicate attributes of the saints, as well as heavenly realities. Join us for a discussion of the symbols and signs commonly used in art to identify the saints and spiritual ideas. You will uncover and appreciate the Biblical and cultural sources of this visual language. Several paintings from different time periods will be examined to ascertain how the artist incorporates symbols into the composition and how they communicate the stories and ideas. Every participant will complete a unique acrylic painting using the visual vocabulary acquired during the morning session. No drawing ability required! All materials supplied. Presenter: Karen Rhodes Ochoa, MFA, DIEM in Liturgy. $35 per participant. Light breakfast and lunch included. Click the title to register
